The Department of Psychology at Ferrum College invites applications for a full time faculty position at the rank of Instructor or Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications, to begin August 2026.
We seek a student-centered educator committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching who can contribute to a vibrant psychology curriculum in a small liberal arts setting. The successful candidate will teach Introductory Psychology and a range of upper-level psychology courses aligned with their expertise and departmental needs.
Area of interest include, but are not limited to:Clinical or Counseling Pyschology
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with students through teaching, mentorship, and experiential learning in a collaborative academic environment.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate psychology courses, including Introductory Psychology and upper-level electives. The successful candidate will also:
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
- Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment.
- Participate in departmental and college committees.
- Support experiential learning opportunities such as student research or applied experiences.
- Maintain professional engagement in the field, including scholarly activity for tenure-track candidates.
Qualifications
Required:
- For Instructor rank: Master's degree in Psychology or a closely related field.
- For Assistant Professor (tenure-track): Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field (ABD considered).
- Demonstrated ability to teach Introductory Psychology.
- Commitment to teaching in a student-focused liberal arts environment.
Preferred:
- College-level teaching experience.
- Ability to teach a variety of upper-level psychology courses.
- Evidence of effective and innovative undergraduate teaching.
- Experience incorporating inclusive pedagogies and instructional technologies.
- For tenure-track candidates, evidence of or potential for scholarly activity.
