Position Title: Library Assistant
Reports to: Rachel Walton, Director of Library Services
Department: Library Position Overview Library Assistants support daily library operations and help ensure that students, faculty, staff, and community members can effectively access library resources and services.
Key Responsibilities
Public Service: · Check materials in and out using the library system · Provide directional assistance and respond to basic research inquiries · Assist patrons with printing and general technology questions
Library Collections: · Shelve and organize library materials · Conduct inventory of books, media, and other resources · Assist with processing and preparing materials for circulation
Marketing & Outreach: · Create and maintain displays and bulletin boards · Support library programming, including events and interactive activities
Professional Competencies · Communicate clearly and effectively with diverse users · Demonstrate reliability, organization, and attention to detail · Show initiative and a willingness to learn and adapt in a service-oriented environment
Qualifications · Strong communication and interpersonal skills · Familiarity with basic computer applications · Experience with or interest in customer service, libraries, or educational environments · Attention to detail and ability to work independently
